1990s: African Diaspora Prepared Citizenship Petitions
Also, it must be noted, early as 1992, Sista Imakus and her late husband Nana Ben, Nana Kwawdo Akpan 1st (1993) of Fiankra, Dr. Maulana Maulana (1990), and Debra Kofi (1994) all prepared Petitions to Ghana Government on behalf of the African Diaspora for Granting of Ghana Citizenship.

However, it was Dr. Maulana Maulana's initiative 28th December, 2016, along with Hon. Nii Kwesi Quartey, then, Executive Secretary to H.E. President John Dramani Mahama, who convinced the President of Ghana to Grant Ghanaian Citizenship, collectively, to the African Diaspora living In Ghana.
Dr. Maulana Maulana's Initiative and Narrative presented to Ghana Government was based on a Two Tier Platform. *The First Tier:
Ghana has a Moral Obligation to "African Descendants of the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade." This is evidenced by the fact, Ghana, formerly, the Gold Coast, during the 400 years Trans Atlantic Slave Trade, had 46 Slave Forts apart from the total of 66 Slave Forts along the Slave Coast. Europeans constructed Slave Forts, beginning in Senegal continuing down to Angola. There were a total of 66 Slave Forts built and the Gold Coast (Ghana) had 46 of them.
The Second Tier:
Dr. Maulana Maulana announced that the African American Diaspora had a multi-trillion dollar economy within the USA, and could bring added value to Ghana's economy, if Ghanaian Citizenship was granted to the African Diaspora, inclusive of Afro-Caribbeans. Thus, It was a done deal.
Ghana Makes History - First African Country, Ever, To Grant Citizenship to the African Diaspora, In Bulk numbers
This was the first time, ever, in the history on the African Continent, since the abolishment of the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade, that a Sitting African Head of State, President John Dramani Mahama, President of Ghana, endorsed the Rallying Cry of "African Descendants of the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade" Granting them Ghanaian Citizenship, and "Right to Return" to 34 African Diasporans. More African Diasporans could have received Ghanaian Citizenship if they had heeded the call of Ministry of the Future (MOF).
This successful and Historic Initiative of Dr. Maulana Maulana had delivered for the above aforementioned Elders, the Pan Africanist Rallying Cry Agenda, who had been advocating over the past decades their "Right to Return." Moreover, this Historic Ceremony of "Right to Return" has given birth to the 'Year of Return' 2019.
Following this Historic Event, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, whatsapp and many International News Media Outlets, evidenced millions of inquiries of from the Global African Diaspora wanting to visit to Ghana.
CHRONOLOGY OF EVENTS BRINGS ON YEAR OF RETURN
Genesis of 'Year of Return' 2019
1st August, 2017 EMANCIPATION DAY CEREMONY at Assin Manso. MOF transported a 60 membership delegation from Accra to participate in this Historic Event, sponsored by Ghana Tourusm Authority (GTA).
Above all, Dr. Maulana Maulana was privileged to give a keynote Presentation at this event, captured on video, before such dignitaries such Paramount Chiefs, Government Ministers, Queen Mothers, Ghana Tourism Authority (CEO) and PANAFEST General Secretariat.
Dr. Maulana Maulana's presentation, once again, called for Ghana Government to Grant Citizenship to the African Diaspora. Moreover, Dr. Maulana Maulana repeated his earlier claim, the fact that the African Americans had a Multi-trillion Dollars Economy; and if giving Ghanaian Citizenship, they would bring added value to Ghana's National Economy. Also, Dr. Maulana Maulana pointed out that Granting the African Diaspora Ghanaian Citizenship would boost Ghana Tourism into the Billions $$$ of Dollars, yearly.
In furtherance, as the year 2017 rolled in, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), headed by H. E. Nana Dankwa Addo Akufo - Addo, had won by democratic voting, taken political power of government away from the NDC. Thus,
25th August, 2017 Office of the President - Diaspora Affairs, invited Dr. Maulana Maulana and Hon. Nii Kwesi Quartey to come and discussed their strategic role and dynamics applied in the previous government's Programme, Granting Ghanaian Citizenship to the African Diaspora.
19th December, 2017: Ghana Tourism Authority hosts at its National Office, News Conference/Press Release, on behalf of Ministry of the Future (MOF), to acknowledge MOF's dynamic role in the Granting of Ghanaian Citizenship to the African Diaspora in 2016 and Promoting Ghana Tourism.
27th December, 2017: Ghana Tourusm Authority (GTA) CEO travels to Assin Manso to participate in Ministry of the Future's (MOF) "1st Anniversary 'Right to Return' Atonement and Healing Festival Ceremony."

22nd January, 2018: Office of the President - Deputy Director Diaspora Affairs, invites MOF's Founder and three MOF Senior Staff members to Jubilee House, to discuss the dynamics of MOF's Programme in 2016 Granting African Diaspora Ghanaian Citizenship.
Dr. Maulana Maulana has taken his time to narrate the whole truth story from the Genesis in an hour interview with Mr.:Frank Owusu Asiamah (FOKA) on how it all started.
According to the Founder and CEO of Ministry of the Future (MOF) NGO, Dr. Maulana Maulana is one of the key people who started all this in Ghana. Starting in 1990 when he was a Research Fellow at the Ghana National Commission on Culture. He was assigned residence at the W E.B. Du Bois Centre for Pan African Culture. In 1990, Dr Maulana Maulana created a Ghanaian Youth "African Conscious Study Group", teaching African-centred Studies to Ghanaian youth. He volunteered his time, free of charge, weekly, and consistently for seventeen (17) consecutive years (1990 - 2007).
Dr. Maulana Maulana explained that "after teaching and waking up Ghanaians about the slave trade he decided to focus on the diasporans so he formed an NGO called Ministry of the Future (MOF) in 2014 to assist and support African descendents of the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade to receive the "Right to Return" and Ghanaian Citizenship.
So in 2016 with the help of H.E Kwesi Nii Quartey, Executive Secretary to President John Dramani Mahama; and the use of Dr. Obadele Kambons' Office for doing Citizenship Seminars, twice per month, at the University of Ghana - Institute of African Studies, Legon. Dr. Maulana Maulana was able to convince the then Ghana Government, led by H.E. President John Dramani Mahama to Grant Ghanaian Citizenship to 34 "African descendents of the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade.
Also, 22nd November, 2018 the Master Teacher who has lived in Africa 52 years, and Ghana for close to 42 years, submitted 232 MOF Citizenship Applications of "African Descendants of the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade" for the current Government to approve, and all MOF 232 Applications were approved. There were in total number 252 African Diaspora Citizenship Applications submitted, however, coming from other NGOs. But,126 "African Descendants of the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade" received Ghanaian Citizenship Certificates 27th November, 2019 at the President Banquet Hall, Jubilee House.
Background story of Dr.Maulana
Dr. Maulana Maulana is a Master in the study of Egytology, scientist and a researcher, and his research led him to some very interesting results. He says that Ghanaians are the people spoken of in the Bible (Genesis - 36 vs. 27). He went further to explain that the people in West Africa, by extention, "African Descendants of the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade" migrated here from The Middle East via Tigris and Euphrates Rivers Basin. He used language and culture to support his claims of the migration.

He runs an NGO which has assisted over 300 African diasporians to be approved for Ghanaian Citizenship from 2016 to 2019, and his NGO has been registered and certified by the government of Ghana under the Office of the President (Diaspora Affairs).
