Miss Til Lydia Yamig, a registered community health nurse and former national service personnel at the Bongo Health center has taken delivery of a baby in a tricycle on the Bolga - Bawku road using a polythene bag as a protective cloth.

The incident happened on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, around 7 pm when the nurse was heading to Kongo from Bolga market in the popular ‘cando’ with the pregnant woman when labor set in.

According to Miss Yamig, they tried allocating the nearest health facility but time could not permit it as the head of the baby was almost on the cervix.

She revealed, as a professional in a similar role as a midwife, she opted to help by protecting one of her hands with a polythene bag and successfully delivered the baby with the help of one woman who was a passenger in the same vehicle with them.

She added that the baby with the mother was then rushed to Ayemfoya health center in Kongo where they were given proper medical care.

Miss Lydia completed Navrongo community health and nursing training college in 2020 and has since been unemployed after her national service.
