Northern Region: Tamale college of Education Trainee teachers cry over “Death trap” toilet facilities

Although we take it for granted, sanitation is a physical measure that has probably done more to prolong the human life span than any kind of drug or surgery. Aside from that, the healthy state of sanitary facilities gives those who use them peace of mind.

Several concerned Teacher Trainees of the Tamale College of Education have raised an alarm about their toilet facility which is on the verge of collapse.

One of the facilities is not in use any longer due to its poor state, leaving only one which is serving all the male trainees.

On Saturday, 19th June 2021, a teacher trainee of the aforementioned noble institution laid down a complaint on this issue and was vehemently backed up by some of his contemporaries.

Buttressed with empirical information, the concerned trainee stated unequivocally that the toilet facility in this unsuitable state has become a death trap for all the male teacher trainees since they use it both day and night.

Surprisingly, not only have these facilities in this bad state become death traps but the sordid stench and flies that emanates from the excrement at the facility threaten the trainees' health because their living abodes (hostels) are a few meters away from it.

He added succinctly in his write-up that the grievance has been channeled to the board of the Students Representatives Council (SRC) on various occasions but no development has been made to remedy it.
