The leadership of Carol Cares Foundation made a donation to the children’s ward of SDA Hospital, Tamale, on the 20th of June, 2022.

The purpose of the donation was to put smiles on the faces of the little children admitted to the hospital while undergoing treatment.

The donation consists of soft drinks, bottled water, and other items to help the hospital take care of the children on admission.

During the donation, the Executive Director and Founder of Carol Cares Foundation, Ms. Caroline Awulley, indicated that the vision of the NGO is to improve the health and well-being of marginalized families and communities in northern Ghana. She also stated that whenever the NGO has an impact on people, she feels happy and fulfilled.

The hospital's accountant, Mr. Samuel Boamah together with Mr. Opoku, the Chaplain, and Mr. Amuni James, the Human Resource Manager, welcomed the Carol Cares Foundation team and received the donation on behalf of the hospital's management.

They also expressed their gratitude to the foundation and hoped to work with them shortly.

Ms. Caroline also revealed that the foundation, in collaboration with some selected health institutions, will soon embark on community outreaches to educate people about their health and how to live a healthy life.

About the Carol Cares Foundation:

The Carol Cares Foundation is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that is concerned about the quality of healthcare and the low standard of living in deprived communities in the northern regions of Ghana.

Health matters affect everyone as well as one’s standard of living regardless of age, race, and culture.

Sadly, comprehensive research conducted in some parts of Northern Ghana by the Carol Cares Foundation revealed some of the following findings:

1. Poverty has a great influence on healthcare delivery in most rural communities in Northern Ghana. For instance, the study revealed that more than 80% of people in marginalized communities in the northern resort to self-medication due to financial constraints.

2. The lack of awareness education programs on health affects a lot of people in these deprived communities.

3. Most health facilities in the rural communities of northern Ghana are not fully equipped with the needed logistics to cater to their patients.

4. The lack of trained health professionals and health service providers in most rural communities of Northern Ghana also tends to affect these deprived communities.

The Carol Cares Foundation seeks to find solutions to these problems through:

• Education: Organizing outreach programs in senior high schools and communities to educate people on the need to live healthier.

• Donation: Support existing health facilities in deprived communities with medical equipment and supplies.

• Organize medical facility clean-up exercises.

• Giving medical facilities in bad shape a facelift.

MISSION

To make people aware of their health status and measures to take to maintain and improve healthy lifestyles, especially in marginalized families and communities.

VISION

improve the health and well-being of marginalized families and communities in northern Ghana.
