The level 400 teacher trainees of the Tamale College of Education are in shambles following notification of the amount each head is supposed to pay as fees for the 2022/2023 academic year.

According to the College management/Authority through the Accounting unit, each trainee is expected to pay an amount of thousand five hundred and ninety-eight Ghana cedis, sixty-eight pesewas (1598.68) for the 2022/2023 academic year.

The thousand five hundred and ninety-eight Ghana cedis, sixty-eight pesewas (1598.68) covers a user fee of Gh¢1038.68, hall dues of Gh¢110 and exam fee of Gh¢450

The disgruntled trainees have since gone haywire, registering their displeasure on the same platform in which the fees message was sent.

Listed among their reasons for protesting against the payment of the entire supposed fee are below;

1) The level 400 trainees are expected to commence the academic year outside the school community for their out-programme exercise. They will be assigned to different schools where each one is supposed to rent, and pay for electricity bills, and water among other bills. They are entitled to spend the entire first semester of level 400 on this exercise, which means they will not be using any of the school facilities during that semester, hence, the fees should be reduced.

2) The fact that they will be spending the entire semester on their out-programme automatically means that they won't be writing exam. The exam fee of Gh¢450 should be scrapped, according to the trainees.

3) Their hall buildings need renovation, trainees who sustain injuries from representing the respective halls in sporting activities are left to endure the burden of their recovery, covering the bills, also, trainees are made to contribute and buy buckets instead of the hall tutors providing, these are the reasons they again plead with the management to reduce the hall dues.

They have generally pleaded with the management of the College to take into consideration their unrest agitation and cut the fees down for them.
