Sing - a - thon Challenge : Afua Asantewaa's Performance To Be Disqualified By Guiness World Records On These Grounds

Ghana's Afua Asantewaa who has attempted to break the Guinness World Records by singing for 120 hours non - stop will end her performance in few hours .

Crowds have gathered at Akwaaba Village in Accra since December 24 , 2023 to witness her attempt at breaking the world record . That record is currently held by Indian singer , Sunil Waghmare , who sang for 105 hours in March 2012 .

At the time of filing this report , Afua Asantewaa had crossed 106 hours . But there are stiff rules guarding the Guinness World Records which she must comply with .

1.Singers may perform WITH or WITHOUT accompaniment . If you have musicians backing you up , they can't play for more than four hours without taking a break of at least four hours themselves .

2.Singing must be continuous with only brief pauses of no more than 30 seconds between songs .

3.Each song performed must last for at least two minutes .

4. No song can be repeated within a four - hour period .

5.Singers are allowed to take five - minute breaks every hour or 20 - minute breaks after four hours .

6.All songs sung during the attempt must be recognizable and performed to a reasonable standard

7.After your attempt , you need to prepare a playlist of all the songs you performed , including timestamps . This proves the authenticity and duration of your singing marathon .
