On the 27th of January, 34-year-old, Cleo Diko’s decomposed body was found hidden underneath a man’s bed. Her body was covered with cement and tiles and with a rope around her body.
Cleo went missing in Mandalay in October 2022. It’s alleged that she was last seen with the suspect at a pub on the day she went missing.
SAPS allegedly received a call from the suspect’s mother informing them about blood-stained blankets and pillows she had come across while cleaning the suspect’s back room. The mother told SAPS that she hadn’t seen him since October 2022.
The suspect was arrested shortly afterwards at the nearby railway lines where he had been living. The suspect appeared in court on the 31st of January 2023. He was charged with a schedule 6 offence, and the State indicated it would oppose bail. The case has been postponed until 23 March 2023.
