Adongo Could Use Relationship With Bawumia To Lobby Opportunities To His Constituency - Filson Awankua

Filson Awankua, a prominent member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Upper East Region, has criticized Isaac Adongo, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bolgatanga, for spending all of his time criticizing Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as opposed to lobbying him for development projects for his constituents.

Despite the fact that MPs must hold the government accountable and criticize it, he admitted that Isaac Adongo's obsession with criticizing Dr. Bawumia and being humorous does not augur well for the development of his constituency.

"You are playing with the lives of the people if your primary purpose as a member of parliament is to produce a comedy as opposed to lobbying the government in power and delivering resources to your constituents. Are you obligated to insult the Vice President? What is your focus? So that they may acclaim you at conferences?" In an interview with Bolgatanga's Dreamz FM, Mr. Awankua stated the following.

He argued that the condemnation of naming Vice President Walewale Adam Smith was unwarranted.

"You could keep the government in check, but some of the things they say, like 'Walewale Adam Smith,' what kind of a joke is that?" He inquired.

He emphasized that Mr. Adongo's unjust criticism prevented him from having a strong relationship with the Vice President, which would have aided in the growth of his constituency.
