In Tuesday's by-election in the Kumawu constituency, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is urging the New Patriotic Party's parliamentary candidate to win by a landslide.

The two main political parties competing for the seat are the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The highly anticipated by-election in Kumawu will take place within the next twenty-four hours, and the NPP and NDC have increased their efforts to ensure their candidate wins the seat.

President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia convince delegates to vote for their candidate while former President John Dramani Mahama makes a compelling case for the NDC.

In addition, both independent candidates have vowed to cause an upheaval.

The NPP held a massive rally in Kumawu on May 21, 2023, which created a politically charged atmosphere.

During the NPP's final rally in the constituency on May 21, the President, who had endorsed Ernest Yaw Anim, exhorted constituents to vote for him.

"The replacement for Philip Basoah is handsome, humble, and hospitable, and he is willing to serve you. Within this district, he has brought together all party members. Ernest Yaw Anim deserves to have this opportunity. We do not want a dishonest candidate, so please place your forefinger above his name on the ballot.

The Vice President, for his part, emphasized the achievements of the NPP and reminded electors of the projects they would forego if they voted for the NDC candidate.

"Vote for the NPP's candidate for parliament to encourage the district's development. The NDC must realize that we have not forgotten the Dumsor administration. Do you wish for us to confront dumsor once more?

Ernest Yaw Anim, the NPP candidate for Kumawu, urged his constituents to refrain from complacency and vote en masse for him to ensure a decisive victory.

"Let's all go out and massively vote for my victory," he exhorted.

The NPP's rally was led by President Akufo-Addo, his Vice, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and other NPP stalwarts including a former Trade Minister and a flagbearer hopeful of NPP, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, former Agric Minister and a flagbearer aspirant, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, NPP's National Chairman, Stephen Ntim amongst others.

Dozens of security personnel have been deployed to Kumawu in anticipation for the by-election, establishing a large security presence there.

The four candidates are Ernest Yaw Anim of the NPP, Kwasi Amankwaa of the NDC, and two independent candidates.
