Former Minister for Trade and Industry and Former Ghana Ambassador to the United States (US), Dr Ekwow Spio-Gabrah says the current government led by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is not performing as expected because they think they are on their way out.

“Yeah! they have been acting as if they are on their way out”, Mr Spio Gabrah emphasized.

The Former Ambassador’s Office is reacting to the current economic situation in the count which ry finds itself and also the various accusations by many Ghanaians against the government over their non —performance.

Speaking on TV Africa in an exclusive interview monitored by MyNewsGH.com, Mr Spio Gabrah accepted the fact the NPP in their first term between 2016 -2020 was okay but noted that, things got out of hand in the second term.

According to him, some individuals in the government have decided not to perform as they expected because they presume the Akufo-Addo administration is already over.

“I think they have tried to some extent to achieve as many of those promises as they can. But it is during this second term where one may say that, because Nana Addo is not coming for re-election, therefore there are those in his government who may feel that they don’t have the same obligation to live up to their commitment to promises because they are on their way out. Yeah, they have been acting as if they are on their way out and so Ghanaians are looking forward very eagerly to the day beyond the NPP administration”, he said.

“I didn’t create it, you didn’t create it but that is what they have created”, he added.

He continued that, most people are wondering when will this government leave so that Ghana can have a better government which will not allow the cedi to depreciate, which will not allow inflation to go up 40, 50%, “which will not overborrow so that we are the worst country performing in various indices in many measurements”.
