Dr. Asah-Asante Kwame Asah-Asante has predicted that the opposition party ,NDC is likely to retain the Assin North Seat.

The incumbent party will give the NDC a good run for their money, he said, but the NDC has a greater chance of winning.

"...if you look at the most recent election, the reality that Gyakye Quayson won will alter the dynamics.

"For instance, we are examining economic issues – it is a crucial factor that electorates will evaluate...Again, his issue is tied to that, and we recognize that he prevailed as a strong candidate; had that not been the case, they would have had their candidate in the legislature...," he said.

Mustapha Gbande, the Deputy National Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), stated on the same program that the party is prepared to compete in the forthcoming by-election in Assin North.

After the Supreme Court order that led to the removal of Mr. James Gyakye Quayson's name from parliament's records, he stated that preparations had already been made for campaigning and other activities.

Remove James Gyakye Quayson's name from your records – Supreme Court to Parliament "The NDC is ready for this election.

We will conduct our review meetings and assume control of Assin North.

We anticipated a by-election, so the party has already taken the necessary steps," he explained.

Parliament writes to the EC and proclaims the Assin North seat to be vacant.

Mr. Gbande added, "Recently, a vigil was held, and other activities will begin tomorrow [May 31] to canvass and further strengthen our relationship with the constituency."

The party is confident that Gyakye Qyason is prepared and will win the by-election to retain the Assin North seat, he added.

Since 1996, the NPP has won four of seven parliamentary elections in the Assin North Constituency, while the NDC has won three times.

In the 2020 parliamentary election, for instance, the NDC trailed the NPP by 3,305 ballots.

Despite the fact that Nana Akufo-Addo won the presidential election, this occurred.
