A boating accident on the Black Volta in the Savannah Region resulted in the death of one person and the disappearance of about 50 others.
The disaster occurred when the canoe carrying passengers from Dorkorchina to Kpandai reportedly capsized due to overloading.
Mr. Kipo Sulemana, district director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) in Bole, verified the incident to the Ghana News Agency in Tamale on Saturday, stating that one person had perished, two others had survived, and approximately fifty others were still missing.
He stated that the location of the incident was inaccessible and that NADMO was relying on locals to assist in the search for the missing.
