The husband and wife are in critical condition after a family member attacked them with a machete while they were bathing.
The incident occurred in Bibiani-Estate, a municipality in the Western North Region, during a dispute over house rent between Monica Addo and her sibling.
According to information obtained, the suspect, Frederick Ntiful, was angry after Monica confronted him about rent money.
According to the report, the suspect and the remainder of the suspect's siblings contributed funds to build a home for their mother, leaving two rooms for rent. It was agreed that the rent money would be used to cover their mother's expenses.
However, the suspect breached the agreement and attempted to convince the victim to hand over the money and house keys, which she refused to do. It is alleged that suspect Frederick threatened to murder his sister and then attacked her while she was bathing.
He slashed her multiple times with a machete, and her spouse was similarly injured when he attempted to save her. After being rescued by neighbors, the couple was transported to Bibiani Government Hospital for treatment. Currently, the suspect is on the run as police investigations commence.
