Do not leave duty station for all-night prayers or funerals – DCOP Boadu-Ekumah

Andrews Boadu-Ekumah, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in command of the Volta Region, has warned police officers to refrain from engaging in activities that will impede the execution of their assigned duties.

According to him, "Under no circumstances should a police officer abandon his duty post for religious activities such as all-night prayers or fasting sessions, as the duty call of a police officer takes precedence over all other considerations," he added.

Tuesday, in Ho, DCOP Boadu-Ekumah addressed the first quarterly meeting of the 82-member Volta Regional Police Ladies Association (POLAS Volta).

He remarked that it was immoral for a police officer to miss work for religious activities or a funeral, adding that the police's primary responsibility is to protect life and property, which cannot be compromised for any reason.

DCOP Boadu-Ekumah added, "Perform your duties diligently and God will bless you abundantly, rather than citing church or funeral as an excuse for missing work."

Trust

The Volta Regional Police Commander stated that the Ghana Police Service was devoted to establishing a strong relationship of trust and confidence with the general public, and as a result, any errant behavior by an officer would not be tolerated.

In order to earn the respect of the public, he exhorted the police officers to execute their duties with patriotism and to remain current on the law and the dynamics of modern society.

DCOP Boadu-Ekumah urged police officers to abstain from all forms of unprofessional conduct, explaining that diligent and devoted officers would not be deprived of their deserved rewards.

Superintendent Benedicta Ansah, president of POLAS Volta, exhorted members of the association to be each other's keeper and to work tirelessly to improve the image of the Ghana Police Service in the region and in Ghana.

Birthday podium

The meeting coincided with the launch of the association's social media birthday platform.

Superintendent Ansah, who is also the Kpetoe District Police Commander, stated, "The purpose of the platform is to enable us to readily assist one another in times of need and share what little we have."

Due to its vitality, she stated that POLAS Volta, which was founded a few years ago, also has members in the Greater Accra and Upper East Police regions.

In the meantime, the President of POLAS Volta praised five female police officers from the region for their outstanding performance on the recently administered, highly competitive entrance examination for the Police Academy in Accra.
