Member of Parliament(MP) for the Builsa South Constituency in the Upper East Region, Dr. Clement Apaak, has predicted that withdrawn National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Dr. Kwabena Duffuor will establish his own political party.
According to him, the former candidate for the flagbearership will soon establish a political party based on allegations of flawed electioneering procedures.
Clement Apaak made this statement in response to the news that Dr. Kwabena Duffuor had withdrawn from the 13 May 2023 election.
Dr. Duffuor addressed the press about his decision and stated, "At this moment, the party has begun distributing ballots to the various regions and constituencies without our participation. My concerns that the party is not prepared to conduct free and fair elections are evident to all of us, but I wish to reiterate my commitment to the party and its constituents.
He continued, "Participating in such an event would be equivalent to drinking poison from a calabash." After consulting with my nationwide support base, I have no choice but to withdraw as I cannot contest an election that is blatantly defective with irregularities despite my efforts to bring attention to the same".
