The John Mahama campaign group is demanding a retraction and apology from Accra-based UTV for a "fake" quote attributed to the former president, which it describes as "false."
The quote is said to portray John Dramani Mahama in a negative light for his assaults on Ashantis.
Friday, April 14th, Spokesperson Joyce Bawa Mogtari issued a statement stating, "[Former] President Mahama has not made such a statement during his campaign or to UTV."
"We believe this to be yet another disinformation campaign designed to sow discord with Mr. John Mahama, and we demand an apology and retraction from UTV."
Mr. Mahama is currently on a regional campaign tour prior to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Presidential Primaries on May 13.
He is currently in the Greater Accra Region after concluding a three-day campaign tour of the Eastern Region.
Joyce Bawa Mogtari asserted, "Mr. Mahama remains committed to his "Building the Ghana We Want Together" campaign and will not be derailed by such vile propaganda."
