Former Auditor-General Dumelovo Breaks Silence After Winning Court Case Against Akuffo-Addo

Former Auditor General Daniel Domelovo stated in an interview that his dismissal by President Akufo-Addo made him feel liberated.

He added that he considered his workplace "toxic" because he feared for his life.

Domelovo stated in an interview that he had to be careful about what he ate, drank, and even who he spoke with because he felt uneasy at work.

He made these remarks in response to the Supreme Court's decision regarding President Akufo-Addo's directive to take a leave of absence.

He feels vindicated by the Supreme Court's ruling that President Akufo-Addo's order compelling him to take leave was unlawful.

In response to the court's unanimous decision, he has reaffirmed his stance on the issue.

Although some have questioned why it took the Supreme Court two years to reach this decision, Domelovo stated that it was a sound one.

He stated in an interview, "The court's decision was reasonable. I've been vindicated. They are the most qualified to explain why they failed or delayed this decision."

He reported that the office environment was noxious. "I swear it was difficult to choose what to drink, consume, or even who to converse with. I dreaded these occurrences out of concern for them. I was apprehensive about laboring in enemy territory. I believed I was in adversary territory, so I exercised vigilance. True, the court's decision was delayed, but after being expelled I felt relieved and secure.

"My adversaries were numerous. My board chairman represented Yaw Osafo Marfo in court in relation to the Kroll and Associates matter. Can you imagine your board chair representing someone who had been surcharged in a matter, then returning to his or her position as chair to make decisions? Consequently, I felt I was in adversary territory and took precautions."
