Hopeson Adorye, a prominent member of the New Patriotic Party, has refuted claims that Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia is creating employment opportunities by pursuing digitization.
According to him, Bawumia's last resort after steering the economy into an irrecoverable ravine is digitization.
During a panel discussion on Okay FM in which an aide to Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia was present, he made this assertion and comment.
Hopeson Adorye explained further that industrialization, not digitization, is what Ghana needs. "Let's find something more compelling to say to Ghanaians. What is digital technology? The purpose of the fourth revolution is to create employment, and this is achieved through industrialization...Currently, everyone travels to China. Why are people flocking to China? Because they have an abundance of industries in which they produce products. What are you discussing? This nation requires employment. "Tbye require work and cash..."
The representative from the vice president's office explained, "Dr. Bawumia will not simply digitalize the economy as we have begun, okay?...We are currently experiencing the fourth industrial revolution, which is characterized by the Internet of things.
Dr. Bawumia's representative provided numerous examples of how youth and other demographic groups are surviving and even earning higher incomes than government workers and white-collar employees.
Hopeson Adorye will have none of it, questioning the employment loopholes and what is being done to enhance Ghana's economy.
The conversation continued for a few minutes, with both parties becoming increasingly ardent about their respective positions.
