I Have No Intention Of Leaving NDC To Establish My Own Party - Dr Kwabena Duffuor

In a statement, Dr. Duffuor expressed his commitment to the NDC and urged for unity prior to the general elections of 2024.

"I am aware that some members of the NDC rank and file are concerned that I intend to leave the NDC to establish a new party. I wish to clarify that I have no such intentions and remain as committed as ever to the NDC.

"The NDC is my home, as it is for all of us, and I will never abandon our party. Let us unite toward the goals of victory for our party and national advancement. The NDC is ours, and it is our responsibility to keep its fire blazing. So let us get to work".

"If there's anything else I've gained from this period, it's a deeper appreciation for this wonderful party as a result of the individuals I've had the privilege of meeting on the campaign trail. As such, I will continue to support the NDC as I have in the past, so long as our quest for a better Ghana continues."

Dr. Duffuor withdrew from the NDC presidential contest, citing irregularities in the voter registration and photo album.

The same day he withdrew, he also retracted his suit against the party, in which he sought to prevent the party from holding Saturday's presidential and parliamentary elections.

John Mahama, the incoming leader of the NDC, has requested that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) begin compiling their handing over notes.

According to the former president, his re-election to lead the National Democratic Congress (NDC) into the 2024 election is just the beginning of a series of events that will pave the way for the NDC to regain power from the incumbent New Patriotic Party (NPP).

On Monday, May 15, 2023, while delivering a formal acceptance speech following his victory in the NDC presidential primaries on Saturday, May 13, Mr. Mahama stated, among other things, the above.

He stated at the University of Development Studies, "They must begin preparing their handover notes and prepare to account to the people for their stewardship."

If elected president of Ghana in 2024, he pledged to make life more worthwhile for Ghanaians.
