Suspended member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Charles Wereko-Brobby, popularly known as Tarzan, says the time has come for President Akufo-Addo to choose between his family and party.
Tarzan made this comment in response to pressure on the President to sack his Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, who is also his cousin.
On Tuesday, October 25, 2022, 8O Members of Parliament (MP) from the majority side of the house held a press conference to demand the removal of Mr Ofori-Atta as Finance Minister and Mr. Adu Boahen.
“The recent developments within our economy are of greater concern to the majority of the members of our caucus and our constituents." We have expressed our grave concern to the President through the Parliamentary leadership and leadership of the party without any response."
“We are by this medium communicating our strong desire that the President change the Finance Minister and the Minister of State at the Finance Ministry without further delay in order to restore hope to the finance sector and reverse the downward trend in the growth of our economy." The summary of our concerns is that Kenneth Ofori-Atta and Charles Adu Boahen be removed from office”,
Reacting to this in a series of posts on Facebook, Dr Wereko-Brobbey says President Akufo-Addo, while in opposition, begged the people of Ghana to try him as President only for him to come to power to become a trial by the citizens.
