James Gyakye Quayson, a former Member of Parliament (MP) for the Assin North Constituency, was advised to step down with dignity and protect his promising future rather than gamble and risk being imprisoned.
Alex Kofi Adu, an NPP activist and well-known Kumawood actor, has advised the NDC candidate for Assin North to contemplate withdrawing from the election.
After the Ghanaian Supreme Court ordered Parliament to proclaim the Assin North seat vacant, the Electoral Commission of Ghana has scheduled by-elections for June 27.
In an exclusive interview with Ambassador TV , Agya Koo stated, "James Gyakye Quayson is a very noble man, but he should be more concerned with his family than with those who are giving him false hope."
"James Gyakye Quayson's future appears promising, so he shouldn't jeopardize it by listening to his supporters at this time." He suggested.
"I fear for James Gyakye Quayson because a similar incident lead to the imprisonment of another member of parliament. Agya Koo advised Osei Kwadwo that he should heed advice and resign.
Agya Koo explained, "I have never stated that James Gyakye Quayson will be imprisoned. Rather, I advised him to follow the counsel of his family members rather than those who were giving him false hope."
"If I knew the head of the Gyakye Quayson family, I would have begged him to advise Gyakye Quayson to put his family before his own interests," he added.
