Following allegations of sexual misconduct, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has suspended Emmanuel Nyarko, the superintendent of Benkum Senior High School (SHS) in the Akuapem North Municipality of the Eastern Region.
Mr. Nyarko was told to step aside pending the outcome of an investigation into allegations of his intimate relationship with approximately 15 female students.
In addition, some instructors who were accused of committing a similar act cited his sexual misconduct when he attempted to facilitate their transfers to other institutions.
Since the incident occurred in 2022, an investigation has been conducted.
Yaw Opoku Mensah, Deputy Spokesperson for the Education Ministry, confirmed the incident and stated, "The regional education agency is in command of the investigation. The school has cleared the way for the investigation to commence, and the superintendent has been asked to resign so that the committee can conduct the investigation in accordance with the GES code of conduct."
According to him, the Ministry is monitoring the situation, and members of the public are exhorted to remain calm and cooperate with the investigation.
In the end, a report of the findings will be sent to the GES headquarters for further action."
