Muftawu Habibu (Mufti), the Public Relations Officer of the Gonjaland Youth Association, appears to have survived a targeted assassination attempt.
Muftawu was on his way home on Tuesday, May 30 at 10:48 p.m. when he was ambushed by an unknown assailant.
The assailant carried out this attack in the vicinity of Dungu, some distance from UDS, Tamale Campus.
The PRO told our news team that an unidentified gunman on a motorcycle shot at his vehicle from a distance, but he managed to escape.
"When I got to the main intersection leading to my house after slowing down to take the curve, I saw that the individual was riding a motorcycle, and I became suspicious," he explained.
"I decided to deviate from the road and exit the vehicle when I heard the sound of a gunshot.
"After running through the forest, I reached the Tamale-Kumasi highway. I decided to return to the scene because, a few minutes later, I saw cars parked at the scene and many people congregated around my vehicle."
