Kennedy Agyapong Claims that Government Have Appointed Disportionat Number Of Northners To Ministerial Positions Is False - Krobea Kwabena Asante

Kennedy Agyapong

Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, a presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), falsely asserted that the Akufo-Addo administration appointed a disproportionate number of "northerners" to ministerial positions.

According to Krobea Kwabena Asante, a prominent member of the NPP, a regional breakdown of ministerial appointments does demonstrate that Mr. Ohene Agyapong was incorrect.

During a tour of the Western Region, Mr. Ohene Agyepong stated that the Akufo-Addo-led NPP administration has so many northern Ministers that the Western and Central Regions are neglected.

However, Mr. Asante's data demonstrates that this is untrue, as there are five regions in northern Ghana and the figures do not indicate an imbalance.

"I have just completed an analysis of ministerial appointments from 2021 to the present, and the data indicates that Ken's argument is not accurate.

Again, the usage of the phrase "North" is extremely problematic. The five regions are distinct; therefore, analysis must be region-specific. Can it also be said that when analyzing South appointments, we should include all 11 known regions in our calculation?

The information presented below demonstrates that the so-called "North" has not received more ministerial appointments than the so-called "South."

Again, it is not true that Western and Central Africa are not adequately represented, argued Mr. Asante.

The North's five regions have only 19 ministers, while the Ashanti region alone has 23.

Consider the following analysis provided by Mr. Asante:
