On Friday morning, residents and drivers along the Accra-Tema motorway endangered their lives to collect fuel gushing from a crashed tanker.
The accident reportedly occurred approximately 200 meters before the Accra end toll booth, spilling gasoline onto the roadway.
A fuel taker belonging to Dukes Petroleum was transporting diesel from Tema to Accra when it drove off the road while attempting to avoid a sedan.
The spilled substance rendered the road treacherous for drivers.
This presented a danger to motorists and vehicular traffic.
In an interview with Adom News' Ohene Amponsah, some drivers who were driving on the road and parked to retrieve the gasoline stated that they could not allow it to be wasted.
"Times are tough, and we couldn't stand by and watch, so I had to get gas for my car," a driver said cheerfully.
Some drivers acknowledged that their behavior was hazardous, but argued that the risk of an explosion in the event of a collision involving a diesel-carrying tanker was minimal compared to that of gasoline.
