Joseph from Gatundu revealed how his parents killed his elder brother after he was born with disabilities since they believed that a disabled child was a curse and a bad omen in the family.
He was born without hands and legs. He escaped death after his parents chose to keep him because beca6they had killed a Partially disabled child before him and later gave birth to a disabled one.
Growing up in the village was very hard since his parents couldn't afford to buy him the special shoes he uses now. People used to stare at him while others used to run away whenever they saw him.
In school, no one wanted to be his friend which made him drop out of school while in class seven. When he decided to marry, his Inlaws were against their daughter getting married to him.
His wife loved him and everyone thought that she would only stay with him for a few months and later leave him. His wife proved them wrong when she chose to stick with him up to now.
They were both blessed with healthy children and grandchildren. He thanks God that none of them is disabled. He helps his wife do many jobs on the farm. He has urged parents to love their disabled children and avoid believing the myths and misconceptions that they are a curse or a bad omen.
