Suspected armed bandits attacked and killed the branch chairman of the National Democratic Congress for Dunkwa-Kadadwen Nkansah Daaho "B" in Upper Denkyira East in the Central region.

He was fatally shot through the skull, which expelled his brains.

On the evening of Thursday, May 4, 2023, 36-year-old Emmanuel Acquah was returning from a gold mining site when he was attacked and fatally shot, according to information gathered by Chris News Media.

Armed bandits stole the gold in addition to the cash that was available.

According to sources, the deceased was transporting two Chinese gold dealers on the Tweapiase – Obuase road in the Akrofuom district of the Ashanti region in a vehicle with the registration number GW-4794-Y.

Upon reaching a section of Tweapiase, a group of approximately five individuals suspected of being armed criminals crossed their path and opened fire on the driver, who was the Upper Denkyira East Branch Chairman of the National Democratic Congress.

The Chinese nationals in the vehicle immediately opened the door and fled into the surrounding brush.

The deceased's father, whose name was given as Acquah, stated that he received distress messages while at home, informing him that his son had been attacked and shot, and was being treated at the Obuasi Government Hospital.

He stated that he quickly raced to the hospital to discover his son's lifeless body and has since requested that the police increase the security in the area.

The Upper Denkyira East constituency chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Swanzy John Arhin, also urged the police to intensify their investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice, as this was not the first time such an incident had occurred.

He guaranteed the family the support of the party.

Meanwhile, the deceased's body has been preserved and examined at the Obuasi-Mangoase Government Hospital Mortuary.

He left a wife and three children behind.
