NPP's Presidential Race Is A Family Battle

Atik Mohammed has advised the New Patriotic Party's presidential candidates, as well as their supporters and delegates, to exercise restraint in their speech, especially when campaigning for their preferred candidate to win the impending presidential primary.

Atik Mohammed, a former General Secretary of the People's National Convention, cautioned the rank and file of the NPP against engaging in abusive politics, emphasizing the need for the entire party to rally behind the winner of the primary to lead them into the 2024 elections. The New Patriotic Party will convene a Super Delegates Congress in August of this year to reduce the number of presidential candidates from ten to five before proceeding with the party's primary process of selecting a presidential candidate.

Atik Mohammed, speaking on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' program, characterized the NPP primary as a family affair and hoped that it would not devolve into unwelcome events that would damage their reputation."This contest is a family battle," he said, urging the party to remain focused on their objective."There is a larger objective, which is to attain supreme political authority.

Therefore, what is occurring now is merely a search for a leader so that they can rally behind him and win the elections.

Therefore, if they are "fighting," they should keep the large picture in mind, because there is often the temptation to veer off the road.""They should exercise restraint in their commentary and expressions of support for their candidates," he added.
