On Friday, May 19, 2023, some Nigerians criticized President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for praising his Nigerian counterpart, Muhammadu Buhari.
While delivering a speech as the honored guest at the launch of two biographies of Buhari, the president of Ghana stated that Africa and the rest of the world will miss his leadership.
He added that future generations will be kind to Muhammadu Buhari.
President Akufo-Addo stated, "As leaders, we all have our highs and lows, but I have no doubt that history will be kind to Muhammadu Buhari."
"President Buhari, you will be missed. Your leadership will be missed by West Africa, Africa, and the entire globe. The leadership of a military dictator-turned-democrat who was exceedingly concerned with Nigeria's and Africa's interests and who made all decisions based on principles, he added.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's remarks did not set well with some Nigerians, who have taken to the microblogging site Twitter to express their displeasure.
Others described Ghana's president as a hypocrite, while others stated unequivocally that they will not regret Buhari as he leaves office as Nigeria's president.
A user identified as Ambassador of Hope commented, "Thunda faya, Nana. How have you guided your country, Ghana?
"This Ghana citizen has a cause for concern! I thought he was excellent," A Twitter user known as I STAND FOR TRUTH wrote.
"Ghana is welcome to him. We will not mourn him at all."
Royalty Stevens, another Twitter user, stated, "He must be a hypocrite. In Ghana, the power supply is consistent, whereas in Nigeria, Buhari and his associates stole the entire energy budget. If Buhari's life must be kind, then no one deserves a harsh existence.
