Minister Akufo-Addo Created Over 3 Million Jobs During His First Term in Office.

Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, the Minister-designate for Employment and Labour Relations, informed the vetting committee of parliament that over 3 million private and public sector jobs were created by the end of 2020 – the first term of the Akufo-Addo administration.

According to him, the jobs, which are dispersed across all sectors of the economy, are the result of new government initiatives designed to improve the lives of citizens and generate jobs for the youth in particular.

Planting for Food and Jobs, Nation Builders Corp (NABCo), National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme, Youth Employment Agency, National Identification Authority Outgrower and Value Chain Fund, and the Ghana Commercial and Agriculture Plan are the initiatives included.

"I do not have the precise figures for the end of 2020, but as of September 2020, the ministry reported that approximately three million jobs had been created. I will provide the details to the committee. These positions are a mix of public and private sector employment. Mr. Baffour-Awuah told the committee, "I'm prepared to defend this number at any time."
