Prez Akufo-Addo Has No Intention Of Sacking Ken Ofori-Atta

As a result of the conclusion of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) deal, there is poor news for those Members of Parliament (MP) calling for the dismissal of Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.

This is due to the fact that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has no intention of replacing his trusted Minister of Finance.

Former chairman of New Juaben North

Kwadwo Boateng-Agyemang, a former New Patriotic Party (NPP) constituency chairman for New Juaben North, disclosed this on Wednesday's Ekosii Sen program on Asempa FM.

Sometime ago, some MP's demanded the urgent removal of the Finance Minister, accusing him of mismanagement of the economy.

They petitioned the President to either remove him or face a boycott in the House of Representatives.

Following a consultation, they agreed to President Akufo-Addo's request to allow Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta to remain in office until the IMF negotiations are concluded.

Eugene Boakye Antwi, member of parliament for the Subin constituency, reminded President Akufo-Addo of his promise days after the agreement was signed.

However, Mr. Boateng-Agyemang stated categorically that no member of parliament has the authority to coerce President Akufo-Addo into firing the Finance Minister.

In light of the efforts to revive the economy, he insisted that Mr. Ofori-Atta is the only person with the power to turn things around.

The former chairman of New Juaben North has asserted that the majority of members of Congress now agree with his position that the Finance Minister should remain in office.

Mr. Boateng-Agyemang told those intent on dismissing Mr. Ofori-Atta that their agenda has failed.

"If you have your agenda, go and practice in your constituency," he snarled.

However, former Adentan constituency representative Kojo Adu-Asare was on the side of the NPP lawmakers.

After 'collapsing' the economy, the Finance Minister has nothing positive to offer, in his opinion.

"There is no justification for our President to retain this individual. All economic indicators are trending negatively. Mr. Adu-Asare added, "If the President desires a good reputation for his government, he will replace him."
