Professor Ransford Gyampo of the University of Ghana stated that the Chief Justice Nominee Gertrude Torkornoo responded well to the queries posed to her on Friday, May 26 during her vetting.
Prof. Gyampo praised the members of the Appointments Committee of Parliament for their insightful inquiries.
He recalled that some committee members had posed unsatisfactory questions in the past, but that this time, the lines of inquiry posed to the nominee were more effective.
Prof. Gyampo evaluated the vetting procedure while appearing on TV3's Key Points on Saturday, May 27. He stated, "She gave good responses to the questions, and excellent questions were posed."
As he addressed the committee members, he remarked, "They asked great questions."
However, Professor Gyampo had reservations about the process of verification. According to him, it was too lengthy.
He explained that one query is sometimes sufficient to determine a person's intelligence.
"We should reconsider the quantity of time we always allocate for vetting nominees...We must not expend all of our time grilling a single individual."
