After officiating a Division Two game between Domfete Galaxy FC and Fetentaa Gye Nyame in Berekum, a center referee identified as Patrick Adjei Sarpong was struck with a metal object.
On Wednesday, May 24, there was violence after referee Sarpong terminated the game in which Fetentaa Gye Nyame defeated Domfete Galaxy by a score of 1-0.
Moments after the final siren, a furious Domefete Galaxy player named Joseph Oteng Adjei assaulted the referee by hitting him with metal and punching him in the face.
Referee Sarpong was rushed to a nearby clinic for treatment with blood dripping from his injured forehead.
According to reports, the perpetrator Oteng Adjei claimed that the referee Sarpong cheated and robbed them, prompting them to take matters into their own hands and exact retribution.
