Renowned Sports Journalist Dan Kwaku Yeboah Clashes With Kojo Asante Over A Donation Made To Kotoko In 2017

Dan Kwaku Yeboah, a Ghanaian sports broadcaster, has disputed with Kojo Asante, a close ally of Asante Kotoko Board Chairman Kwame Kyei, over donations made to the club in the aftermath of the 2017 accident.

Six years after the accident that occurred when the team bus collided with a stationary vehicle on the Accra-Nkawkaw road, none of the victims have been compensated, with the exception of the then-head coach.

The accident resulted in the death of the assistant equipment officer, Thomas Obeng Asare, and numerous injuries to athletes, team officials, and journalists.

Sampson Appiah, the former trainer of Asante Kotoko goalkeepers, and goalkeeper Isaac Amoako are the most recent victims to complain about not receiving compensation from the club.

"Kotoko did not assist me in any way. According to my knowledge, if you work with someone who has an accident like this, you should at least take this to console yourself. Due to the fact that someone perished, it was a severe accident. Kwame Kyei did not assist us in any way. Sampson Appiah said in an interview with Dan Kweku Yeboah, "He did not give us any of the approximately four billion Ghana cedis (GH400,000) that people donated."

While the topic was being discussed on Peace FM's sports program, Kojo Asante called in to clear the name of Kwame Kyei, who the victims blame.

Kojo Asante added fuel to the fire by accusing the show's presenter, Dan Kweku Yaboah, of having an agenda against Kwame Kyei, the Executive Board Chairman of Kotoko at the time of the accident.

Kojo Asante stated, "You are being biased, Kweku, because your line of questioning paints Kwame Kyei in a negative light, and you accuse him of keeping the accident donations when he did not set up the accounts for the donations."

Dan Kwaku Yeboah replied indignantly as he questioned how a person could open a bank account in the name of Asante Kotoko without the sanction of Executive Board Chairman Kwame Kyei.

"Don't even commence Kojo, and don't teach me how to perform my duties. What you people did in the beginning was illegal. "How could you ride a bus without insurance?"

"How can you say that someone opened a bank account in the name of Asante Kotoko without the Executive Board Chairman's knowledge? Would you be here if a member of your family was one of the accident's victims?" Dan Kwaku Yeboah inquired.
