Clement Wilkinson The municipal chief executive (MCE) for the Ga West Municipal Assembly, Clement Wilkinson, has disclosed that he faces legal action from residents impacted by a recent demolition project.

He stated that he is currently a defendant in over 160 pending lawsuits.

He announced this on Friday's Dwaso Nsem morning program on Adom FM.

Mr. Wilkinson asserts that the affected residents were informed of the encroachment and agreed that the sellers were at fault.

In addition, he mentioned that his own building was demolished and that he was not compensated.

Regarding compensation for those affected, Mr. Wilkinson clarified that the government will not provide compensation, but may pay for damages.

"The government will never pay twice for compensations on the same land." It will not occur. "Government can only compensate for damages," he explained.

In 2006, when former President John Agyekum Kufuor was in office, the government already paid compensation for the same parcel of land, so it cannot do so again.

Several buildings on government-owned land were demolished to make way for the construction of important roads; the demolition was conducted on government property.
