James Gyakye Quayson, a member of parliament for Assin North who has been restrained and dragged to court, is anticipated to receive a ruling from the Supreme Court in his case.

The court's decision will provide finality and clarity regarding whether the detained NDC MP violated the country's supreme laws prior to submitting his application to run for office.

Michael Ankomah Nimfah, the petitioner, argues that the lawmaker held dual citizenship as a Ghanaian and a Canadian at the time he filed his petitions with the EC and was therefore ineligible to run in the 2020 elections.

Michael Ankomah Ninfah is petitioning the Supreme Court to rule that the detained member of parliament held dual citizenship at the time he ran for Parliament in 2020, and that his nationality transfer had not taken effect.

The seven-member panel, led by Justice Jones Dotse and composed of Justice Nene Amegatcher, Justice Mariama Owusu, Justice Prof. Henrietta Mensa-Bonsu, Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, (CJ nominee), Justice Yonny Kulendi, and Justice Barbara Ackah-Yensu, will render a final decision on the matter.
