Saturday evening, a Fuel Tanker caught fire after crashing while descending the Mamfe Akuapem Mountains in the direction of Adawso in the Eastern region.
According to an eyewitness, he stated that the entire roadway was engulfed in flames, preventing vehicles from crossing and causing congestion.
No casualties have been verified as of yet.
As fire fighters had not yet arrived to extinguish the blaze, motorists must use the road from Koforidua to Adukrom to reach Mamfe, Aburi, and Accra.
Recently, a number of collisions have occurred on that stretch of road.
A Toyota Fish with registration number GX 8555-20 and a Toyota Hiace with registration number GW 6185-16 reportedly collided on the Akuapem Mamfe mountains in the Eastern region, injuring dozens of passengers.
The Toyota Fish vehicle somersaulted multiple times before coming to rest on the shoulder of the road.
The occupants of the Toyota Fish sustained life-threatening injuries, while those in the Toyota Hiace only sustained minor injuries.
They were immediately transported to Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital.
The collision occurred less than twenty-four hours after a catastrophic collision involving a Xugong Mobile Crane vehicle on the same stretch of Mamfe to Koforidua road.
The motorist lost control of the steering wheel while descending the mountain, resulting in the collision.
Personnel from the Ghana Police Service and Ghana National Fire Service who responded to the scene observed that a Xugong mobile crane with the registration number GS 8400-11 was partially engulfed in bushes on the side of the road, with no sign of the driver or operator.
During a search, the driver was later discovered motionless in a nearby shrubbery.
Police hurried him to Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital, but he was declared deceased upon arrival.
