A male resident of Takoradi, believed to be in his early forties, was apprehended for holding hostage a 10-year-old girl reported missing on May 5.
Anaji police reported Gloria Fiadzo, a resident of the Anaji Mpatado neighborhood, missing early on Friday morning.
The report was issued after all attempts to locate her proved fruitless.
A new development suggests that the child was spotted at the suspects' Anaji residence on May 11 by a female neighbor who, knowing that the suspect has neither a wife nor a child, reported the incident to the Anaji police station.
The police have since rescued the child and instructed the parent to have the victim examined at the hospital.
Mr. Confidence Fiadzo, the father of Gloria, told Skyy News that the suspect claimed the child was afraid to return home because her mother threatened to beat her, thus keeping her captive for six days.
Mr. Fiadzo has refuted these claims and is currently awaiting hospital reports.
