Black Stars defender Tariq Lamptey revealed that the overwhelming love he felt during his first visit to Ghana in 2022 was a significant factor in his decision to change his nationality.
Lamptey, who currently plays for Brighton and Hove Albion, represented England at the juvenile level before deciding to play for Ghana.
He stated that while a number of factors influenced his decision to play for the Black Stars, interacting with the Ghanaian people through his charity foundation work was a defining moment.
"It was influenced by a number of variables, but one of them was when I ran my charity foundation last summer and witnessed the people and the incredible feeling they give you. Therefore, this clearly determined the outcome.
"To be fair, you don't know what to expect when you arrive, and as I previously stated, it was extraordinary, and I'm always grateful.
