An accident involving a private automobile and two tricycles (Pragya) at Berekum has resulted in one confirmed death and three injuries.
Two tricycles were struck by a Toyota Corolla traveling at top speed as it approached a local market, according to eyewitness accounts.
The driver, who had lost control of the vehicle, struck the first tricycle before colliding with the second and an adjacent container stall.
Both tricycle operators, as well as other passengers, sustained severe injuries.
They were rushed to the Holy Family Hospital in Berekum, where it was confirmed that one of the victims, a young woman, had died.
Nevertheless, the enraged youth set fire to the private vehicle out of suspicion that the driver was involved in "sakawa rituals."
Nana Kwame, whose container was also destroyed by the accident, stated that the area is prone to accidents and that a speed hump is presently being built to prevent speeding in the area.
Adom News' Dominic Donyina visited Holy Family Hospital and reported that one of the three victims is in critical condition and the remaining two are in stable condition.
