On Friday, May 26, 2023, the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) foiled two women's attempt to sell a two-month-old infant.
Co-passengers on a public transport who raised the alarm suspected Oge Okolie (25), the intermediary between the baby's mother and the prospective buyer, of stealing the infant. Okolie was the person who mediated between the mother and the buyer.
It was learned that after the passengers observed the baby's incessant wailing, they questioned Oge about her refusal to breastfeed him. When she could not account for the baby, the passengers were about to lynch her until RRS agents intervened and rescued her.
