Amaka Onyema, a Nigerian woman, has begun her weight loss voyage after experiencing difficulties due to her obesity.

According to Amaka, she began gaining weight in school despite the warnings of her peers.

After marriage and having children, her weight increased to the point where she could no longer carry herself.

Amaka reported that her spouse, who had previously expressed interest in women with muscular physiques, had changed his mind and insisted that hers was becoming too pronounced.

The woman in her forties decided to take drastic measures to lose weight. She noted that she has observed changes and that her spouse and children are pleased with her weight loss.

She told BBC News Pidgin in the local dialect:

"Because it is difficult for me to transport myself, I cannot reach the only bed where I stay. I cannot leave my bed unless I need to use the restroom. Na on top of my bed I dine and do everything else.

Her children verified the success of her weight loss efforts, prompting her to express her happiness.

"My pikin don dey tell me say ah, mummy you don dey melt oh, di tin dey delicious me. I've realized that even my children were previously unhappy with my obesity.

"I do not begin with exercise; rather, I begin with portioning my food." I trimmed down my carbohydrates. I reduce rice, eba, and fufu so that I have sufficient time to prepare them for my meals.
