The Ajumako Police Command is holding a 20-year-old woman responsible for dumping her newborn in a school's latrine at Ajumako Aduyaw in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District of the Central Region.
The suspect, Adwoa Appiah, gave birth to her third child [a baby girl] at her home on Friday, May 12, 2023 at dawn. She then placed the baby with the umbilical chord in a sack, tied it shut with a rope, and dumped it in a toilet at Ajumako Aduyaw/Assasan Basic School.
According to reports, a passerby heard the baby's cries and raised the alarm, attracting the attention of other residents who rescued the infant and took her to the Ajumako Government Hospital.
The incident was reported to the police, who apprehended the suspect who is cooperating with the investigation at the Ajumako District Police Station.
