Wife Of Murdered Police Officer At Ablekuma Finally Speaks

Sat, 24 Jun 2023 Source: realnewz.com

Amanda Amoah, the widow of a police officer who was killed on June 21 while escorting a bullion van at Ablekuma Fanmilk, has discussed how she learned of her husband's death.

In an interview with the media on June 23, the widow reminisced about her husband's final moments, which revolved around a phone call in which she requested funds to assist her in registering for biometrics.

She revealed that officials from the Ghana Police Service had contacted her mother and asked for her number, informing them that they would be visiting them at their residence.

They refused to be told what the problem was despite repeated requests. Similar appeals to colleagues of her spouse, which she made during a time of heightened anxiety and uncertainty, went unanswered.

"My father called and informed me that he had seen a message on his phone about the death of a police officer in Ablekuma, which happens to be on his allocated route as he frequently travels through Anyaa and Ablekuma.

"We immediately turned on the television, and the news was everywhere," Amanda said with a heavy heart.

Her mother recounted a similar sequence of events before emphasizing the pivotal role the deceased played in her daughter's life, with whom they share a child.

"You should have seen us here yesterday, we cried our hearts out because Amoah is my daughter's everything; she doesn't work, and he does everything for her, he does everything," she said.

"They got married (in church) only last year, although the traditional ceremony took place two years ago in the north. In 2022, the wedding was sanctified at St. George's Roman Catholic Church. "On June 27, it will be exactly one year," she added.

The police are on the lookout for the criminals who stole an undisclosed amount of money.
