The authorities have successfully apprehended two more suspects who fled from the Nkwanta Police station's cells in the Oti region.
The two individuals have been identified as Mohammed Kadir, who was detained for robbery charges, and Stephen Asamoah, who was being held on defilement accusations. Reports indicate that they were found hiding in Keri, a farming community located in Nkwanta South.
With their capture, the total number of re-arrested inmates now stands at three, following their escape on Tuesday evening. However, the first suspect, Danjumah Afu, reportedly consumed a poisonous substance upon his recapture. He is scheduled to appear before the Jasikan Circuit Court on April 13th, 2023.
Meanwhile, the authorities are still searching for the remaining six escapees, and the Nkwanta South Police has appealed to the public for information that could help locate and apprehend the remaining suspects.
