Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Member of Parliament for North Tongu, has denied accusations that he was "exorcised of demons" following his exposé of the National Cathedral in viral photos showing him receiving prayers from several well-known religious figures.
He said that after a meeting with the Apostolic Fathers, a group of clergymen, they had offered special prayers for his support.
"After the presentation, they asked for prayers for me, said they were impressed with my parliamentary oversight responsibilities and said I would need some serious strengthening in the future.”
"So I think it is the picture that has gone viral. I have seen an attempt to distort this particular prayer image. I heard some rumours that the pastors had caught me and decided to cast certain devils out of me because I was fighting the National Cathedral," he told Accra's Metro TV.
The prayers, he said, had given him more confidence and nothing could stop him.
"A new anointing and a new zeal to serve God and the nation. The country is definitely benefiting. To the glory of God, everything we have published so far has been verified; there hasn't been any malicious information, fake news or fabrications," he said.
"We do our job extremely well, validation, further investigation, making sure that we authenticate everything before we put it out," the spokesman said.
“But this was a misrepresentation; this wasn't what actually happened; they thought they had to say some special prayers. I will always be grateful for that. Allow me to put on record that I feel truly blessed.”
Mr Ablakwa pointed out that the clergymen are in possession of everything, including some information about the cathedral that has not yet been made public.
