Samuel L. Jackson, an American actor, and his wife of 42 years, LaTanya Richardson, are said to have fought at a theater gala. Jackson left early, even though the couple was being honored, because of the fight.

Monday night, the alleged incident took place at the Theatre Communications Group gala in New York City. The famous couple was there.

Page Six's sources say that the longtime couple had a "tiff" in the press room before Samuel left early. However, an event organizer told Page Six that the star wasn't supposed to be at the gala at the Edison Ballroom in Midtown for the whole night anyway.

A source told Page Six, "It sounds like they were fighting when they got there." After taking pictures together, they started fighting.

A different insider said that Samuel and LaTanya got into a fight in the press room, and Samuel looked upset.

Vanessa Williams honored both members of the power couple at the event, so it was interesting to hear that "LaTanya accepted solo."

Page Six also says that the matriarch told the crowd that Samuel had left because he was worried about COVID-19.

LaTanya is also directing her husband right now in a Broadway revival of August Wilson's The Piano Lesson.

Page Six got a statement from a gala representative that said, "As the top-billed star of The Piano Lesson, Mr. Jackson is very careful about putting the show at risk by exposing himself to COVID-19." Ms. Jackson accepted on behalf of herself and her husband just to reduce the chance that he would be found out. Everyone who helped plan the event knew ahead of time that Mr. Jackson only wanted to take pictures and then leave.

"It was a magical night, and they helped raise a record amount of more than $300,000 to support TCG's goal of making the theater world more fair and just."

In 1970, Samuel and LaTanya met when they were both in college. They finally got married in 1980 and have a daughter, Zoe Jackson, who is 40 and works as a freelance film and TV producer.
