Akufo-Addo Makes History With Police Service

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has fulfilled a pledge he made approximately four years ago to help secure the country's internal security by becoming the first Ghanaian head of state to donate helicopters for the Ghana Police Service.

The Police Service displayed three of its brand-new helicopters that the Akufo-Addo administration purchased in an impressive display at the 66th Independence Day celebration in Ho in the Volta Region on Monday.

Speaking to attendees at the anniversary, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia and other dignitaries were present. The President thanked the police force and other security organisations for their work in preventing crime and maintaining public safety in Ghana.

The police-branded helicopters, which were flown by South African-trained police officers, were on display at the celebration honouring Ghana's 66-year freedom from colonial domination.

"I am sure we all witnessed the three (3) helicopters belonging to the Police Service attending this morning's celebration.

"The Police Service is using helicopters for the first time in the history of our country to increase operational effectiveness.

President Akufo-Addo said, "The purchase of these helicopters is in fulfilment of the commitment I made at the 2019 end-of-year Police WASSA. I hereby assure the officers, men and women of the Service of Government's continuing support in assisting them to discharge efficiently their duty.
