According to a report from Samuel Agyei Bonsra, published on Kasapa FM Online, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) recently held its Primaries in Kumawu Constituency on Sunday, April 23, 2023. The purpose of the Primaries was to select a candidate for the upcoming by-election, which is scheduled for May 23, 2023, also in Kumawu.

Five aspirants participated in the contest to replace the late MP, Philip Basoah. Ultimately, Ernest Yaw Anim emerged as the winner, receiving a total of 195 votes, while Obaapa Yaa Serwah came in second with 181 votes.

The competition was primarily between Former Trades and Industry Minister, Mr. Alan Kyerematen, and the Vice President and his Jubilee House Establishment. However, the grassroots chose a candidate who represented loyalty, competence, and long service, which they believed were the attributes of Mr. Kyerematen's candidate. The runner-up candidate relied heavily on financial support from the Vice President and the establishment. The grassroots were impressed by Mr. Anim's dedication and commitment to serving the community, and they believed he had their best interests at heart, which is why they chose to reward him.

In the meantime, Mr. Kyerematen has taken to his Facebook page to congratulate the newly elected candidate, Ernest Yaw Anim. He called on the other candidates to join forces with Mr. Anim to ensure a massive victory for the NPP on May 23, 2023.
