Bawumia provides data on the 2 million jobs created by NPP govt

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia shared information about the 2 million jobs that the government has created. During this year's Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at the Black Star Square in Accra, he stated that over the past six years, the government has created over 2 million jobs for the youth, excluding jobs created under the Planting for Food and Jobs and the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO), which were temporary measures.

However, Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), rejected Dr. Bawumia's claim and called him a liar.

Sammy Gyamfi argued that unemployment has almost doubled from 8.4% in 2016 to 14% in 2021, according to the GSS. He claimed that youth unemployment is at an all-time high, and massive job losses have become the norm due to economic mismanagement by the Bawumia-led Economic Management Team (EMT). He further described Dr. Bawumia as a shameless liar who would go down in the Guinness book of lies for claiming that his government created 2.1 million jobs.

However, in response to the criticisms, Dr. Bawumia tweeted on April 26, explaining that the government had indeed created over 2 million jobs since 2017.

He attached data that showed the jobs created year by year, ministry by ministry, and agency by agency, excluding jobs created under Planting for Food and Jobs and the National Identification Authority. He encouraged people to reject negative thinking and accept that it is possible to create jobs.
